In the Garden

It's been a doozy of a week.  Malachi had his appendix out while we were visiting my parents, but now we are home, and he is getting stronger and healing.  The garden was neglected for a week, but it's doing great.  There was a bit of deer damage, but not much, and the weeds have not taken over due to the straw mulching.  I have some medium-sized green tomatoes on some of the plants.  I don't think I'll have a ripe one by the fourth, as was always Papaw's (and my) goal, but today, we did have something very exciting: our first ripe cherry tomato!  Of course, there is no picture because Lydia promptly ate it.
